The Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon is Egypt's flagship road running event, taking place annually at Egypt's most famous historical destination and the world's last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World: the Great Pyramids of Giza. The Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon takes thousands of runners on a tour of the Pyramids Complex, showcasing the three legendary pyramids of Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as well as the six lesser ones built for their queens.

Inaugurated in 2019 with the attendance of HE Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth & Sports, HE Dr Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Antiquities, and HE Dr Rania Al-Mashaat, Minister of Tourism, the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon has proven to be a major local and international participation sports event, bringing in thousands of participants and regularly welcoming runners from over 80 nationalities.

Beginning in 2020, the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon added a short-format running race to the event alongside the 21K and 10K, and since then the 5K has proven to be incredibly popular. The 5K benefits from a relatively flat course, while the 10K and 21K will both face the downhill stretch towards the Sphinx and the now-infamous incline on the way back up. The Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon is a fun, challenging, and unforgettable #RaceThroughHistory, perfect for runners of all ages and abilities.

The Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon is organised by The TriFactory, Egypt's leading participation sports event organiser. Both events are organised under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities, as well as the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority. They are technically supervised by the Egyptian Athletics Federation, ensuring that all distances are organised to exact international standards, in line with major running races across the world.
